How to Chuckie Cheese

I’m not sure about you but when I was a kid Chuckie Cheese was one of my favorite places to go!

Things look different from when I was a kid ( millennial here!) . No more coins to carry around and bye bye to the animatronics. But even without Chuckies band playing there’s tons of fun to be had.

Before I get into it no this is not a sponsored ad. I never trust a here’s my honest review with a coupon posts..  this is NOT one of those.

Here we go 🙂

Cost : Buy the membership! You can still go without one but it is a much better value for your money to purchase one.

I can’t say enough about how excited I am about this. We have purchased the Summer Pass ☀️ for several summers. 2021 2023 and 2024. We skipped 2022 because it was not the best timing for us ( just moved and had a one month old baby). 2024 was the best year we had gone for the price and the way the program was run. I was almost going to buy another fun pass before the summer was over BUT then the new membership program was announced. We waited a few months to return ( we gave it as a Christmas gift for the kids). We have been monthly members since December 2024 and no plans to stop.

Here’s the breakdown. As of the day I am writing this ( 7.4.2026) is what it looks like. Also check your own location incase any details are different.  I’m in Northeast Florida.

There are 3 levels of membership. Each one is a different price and comes with different perks. You  opt in for a 12 month commitment or buy a summer pass at the beginning of the summer usually May. Depending on the summer the summer pass sale varies as far as how long it runs. The 12 month commitment is a better price per month but you are locked in for a year.  I went with the 12 month. 5 months of the monthly fee was the same as the summer pass, we aren’t too far away and we love to go so it made sense for us.

One honest observation: when we had the summer pass only before the membership we were more diligent about going every single week. However even now when we don’t go every single week the membership is still a much better deal!

See the coupon deals below. For my family the $30 is much more effective even if we only went once during the month.

The three levels are :

Above it the website to check it out.

It can be split among 6 people. I have 5 children so I opted for the highest membership.  If you have more people in your family than that you would likely need to purchase more than one monthly pass. This gives each of my kids plenty of game time to stay for an hour to an hour and a half or so. As of the time I am writing this every game is one point. I have yet to see one that is more.

Play pass:

No more coins to carry around. You now have a play card that stores all your game times/ points AND your tickets from games.

You can get just as a card, a card with a bracelet or a band that looks like a watch. I recommend getting one they can wear. If your kids are like mine they will put it down and lose it. The band is great and fun to wear but my younger kids would take it off if they couldn’t reach the game to activate it and have misplaced them..fortunately we could track it down but not a fun experienced.  My teen did just fine thanks to longer arms. My kids do really well with the bracelet because they can stretch it without taking it off.

At time of writing at my location the price for the card is $2, the card with the stretchy band is $4 and the wristband one is $6.

Parenting tip :

Do not let your kids hold onto these cards when you are not inside of Chuckie Cheese! Why you may ask…. those cards contain their e- tickets. Lose the card lose the tickets. It won’t matter for your Play Pass if you go in to use your games for the day and don’t have your card ( like I did the last time I went)  . You can add your playthings to a new card but you have to purchase it and the e-tickets don’t transfer.

I like to keep my cards in a zipper pocket on my backpack.  As soon as we leave Chuckie Cheese I gather the cards and zip then back up.  I also like to keep a sharpie in the bag.  Everyone’s card has their name written on it but sometimes the writing wears off. If their name is wearing off having the sharpie in the bag helps to address the problem immediately.

Bonus card tip : in a notes app wrote down every persons card number.  They can be found on the back of the card in the upper right hand corner.  Each card has a unique code.  If the names wear off before you notice or can fix you can compare the numbers and match the right card to the right kid.

Food tips:

Food ( well I guess drink tip) number one : get the reusable cups! You can bring them back every single time you visit and use.

From personal experience when you go home with these cups wash them, dry them, and DO NOT keep them with your regular supply of cups or if you’re family is anything like mine toy eventually will be missing a straw or two or all of them.

I have had the best luck washing them and then when they are dry storing them separately ready to go for your next trip.

However… if you are also like me and forgot to bring them sometimes… I would still buy them. One extra cups are handy and two they are more sturdy then the regular drink cups.

Also I am always hopeful having extra cups may eventually mean I consistently remember to bring them 🙂

At the time of writing they can be purchased with your food and drink discount if you have a membership.

Food tip two : order the food as soon as you arrive. The food can take a little bit to come up sometimes especially if it is busy. You have to check in and get your cards activated when you arrive . While you already have your app out and open and going waited in line it makes it easier on you to order to food right then. It will help prevent kids having a meltdown on public being hungry and if they aren’t quick ready to stop and eat when it comes out it gives it a chance to cool down!

Food tip three : even if you plan to eat there…it is not the worst idea to give your kids something to eat prior to going. With my kids some will happily sit and eat… some won’t.  No one needs an overstimulated hangry kid in their hands.  Some protein ahead of time even if it simply a beef stick is a good insurance policy. Maybe have them use the bathroom too 🙂

Prizes:

This is the hardest part of Chuckie Cheese for me. My kids always want a prize and the bigger prizes take awhile to get. You can pay a penny a ticket to get an upgraded prize but that adds up really fast.

My best bit of advice is to have your kids have a minimum amount of points to redeem or pick once every (fill in the blank) visits.

Be on the lookout out for bonus etickets .

Other things to note before you go

If you have a child with any kind of sensory issues check your local location for Sensory friendly days. At the locations near me they are the first Sunday of the month.  Was the same in Massachusetts too. I plugged in another random location and it seems like it is consistently Sensory Sunday but check your local location to be sure!

Sensory Sensitive Sunday Participating Locations

Things NOT included

Depending on the location you visit there may be things that are NOT included in your standard admission.

The Superhero playground and trampoline zone has a separate admission and is height restricted.

Check your location for availability and cost.

Homeschooling days

Homeschool Play Day | $11.99 For 90 Min Unlimited Play | Chuck E. Cheese

Some locations offer special homeschooling days. Check your location for details.

Final thoughts

Chuckie cheese is a great place to take your kids. They are very family friendly and can be an affordable option for family fun especially in the heat of summer (or cold of winter depending on where you live!)

A little organization can make this a smooth experience. Knowing where your fun passes are… maybe your reusable cups or even a sharpie… will make your life much easier!

A few final thoughts are not every location has the same layout or games.

Also yes there is the kid check station but parent to parent please be aware of where your kids are. There are always ways an under or unsupervised kid can get themselves into trouble.

And parents… have a little fun too ! Let yourself be a kid while you are there and play a game of hoops or ski ball.

Enjoy!
