Homemade Pizza has quickly become a favorite in my household . There are many reasons why. First of all Pizza is delicious , and by many it’s considered a treat. Maybe this is because it’s usually served on Fridays in school cafeterias , the last lunch we easy at school before the weekend Homemade Pizza is surprisingly easy, it’s one of the first foods that involve yeast and flourv that I’ve attempted myself . It is also is a great way to use up leftovers .
Here is the receipe :
Pizza
Yields 3 pizzas approximately 12 inches each
Ingredients :
5 cups flour
2 cups warm water
2 yeast packets
2 tbsp Honey or sugar (the yeast is more reactive to honey but if sharing with a child under 1 use sugar)
1 tbsp salt
Seasonings are optional but I highly recommend them. You can use more or less to your taste preference but I use about 2 tbsp each
Garlic powder
Italian seasoning
Pepper
Directions:
Heat 2 cups water in microwave for two minutes
After heating add sugar or honey
Stir in 2 yeast packets
Wait 10 minutes to allow yeast to bloom
While waiting mix in large bowl:
5 cups flour
Salt
Pepper
Garlic powder
Italian seasoning
After 10 minutes add water with bloomed yeast and knead dough
Cover dough with wet paper towel and wait 30 minutes to allow to rise . Try to keep dough in a warm area so it will rise.
After 30 minutes take dough out and put onto flat floured surface.Divide dough into 3.
Roll out dough to fit pan. I use Pizza pans with holes to allow air to get to crust.
When I first started making Pizza I used a pan with no holes and I tried a square pan too . They worked just fine and if that’s what you have use it. You may just need to adjust cooking time because the crust takes a little longer.
For softer crust add toppings to uncooked dough and bake 17 minutes at 400.
For crispy crust bake for 5 minutes no toppings. Take out of oven. Add toppings and bake for 15 minutes more minutes.
Sauce:
Homemade Marinara or I just tried a sauce I saw on a video blog from A Farmhouse full using tomato paste .
Check it out here:

Both are good. The tomato paste one is a huge time saver and tastes more like the sauce that’s on take out Pizza .
Now I mentioned earlier home made pizza can be a great way too use up leftovers . My kids prefer cheese , but my husband and I like toppings.
Here are some ideas :
Hawaiian . I used the spiral ham I had leftover and a can of pineapple from the pantry. Please drain can and put pineapple on a paper towel to absorb extra liquid before adding to Pizza.
Leftover meatballs make a great topping. depending on how big they are you may need to break up.
Meatsauce from pasta could be used in place of pizza sauce.
Taco meat.
Leftover chicken. You could replace the pizza sauce with white sauce or BBQ sauce.
Get creative . I plan to try a taco pizza with refried beans.
Homemade Pizza is fun, affordable , and with a few simple ingredients can be an easy go to.

You’re too smart for me!! 👏🍕
