I have started the master bathroom!
Started though… not finished.
Here is a look at my bathroom before.

As I got looking at this project my limitations started making me nervous. It’s not as easy as it used to to climb on the side of bathtubs and balance on vanities.
Rather than let fear stop me I decided to just start and figure it out as I go.

My plan is to do a dark blue on the top and hopefully remove the bottom wallpaper and paint that white. If it does not come off easily I did some research on painting over wallpaper..hopefully I don’t need to do that.

The top walls are a brownish orange. I refer to it as brorange…if that makes any sense.
While a lot of paints are now formulated with a primer in them…and the paint I’m picking is going to be dark too… I didn’t want to take any chances so I decided that I was going to take the possible extra step and prime the walla first. I am not a protectionist by any means but some things you want to do right the first time. I figure it will be a lots more work to paint it blue… still see the other color and need to redo or put 10 coats on it.
We picked up a can of Kilz. If you haven’t used this stuff before… warning it smells. However… it works miracles. I used this in Onset to paint wooden paneling. My husband was the one to talk to the gentleman at Lowes… he decided on the gold can of Kilz. I think it’s the best one.

My neighbor kindly loaned me a tool to extend my roller and save me from going up and down on the step ladder 100 times.
I coated the entire top half of my bathroom with Kilz. I am trying to decide if I should do a second coat. What I may do is paint a small section with the blue and see after it dries if anything shows through. Then I don’t waste and entire second half can of paint and two hours if unnecessary.
This is my bragging moment…. I was able to do almost all of it without help. I still need my husband to undo the light fixtures so I can make…and I have some clean up to do… my hands are less steady than before. However once the motivation of starting the project kicked in I found ways to get to the places at first almost stopped me from trying at all. I used my step ladder to get onto and off the bathtub and to balance painting near the vanity and mirror.
This was NOT easy. It took me two hours…. I was literally drenched in sweat after… which may be from an open window in 90+ degree heat… but it was hard. But it was so rewarding. A much needed win for me and a take that Arthritis moment… I used more colorful language than that but trying to be proper š
Now that I’ve started I eventually need to finish so I’m glad my husband pushed me to start that afternoon. He took the baby and did camp and preschool pick up while I painted..and checked in to make sure I hadn’t fallen off of the ladder š
Here is what it looks like all primed.

Now to finish!
